📣 DAD’S TAKEON CADE HORTON

Look at this kid adjusting his cap like he's trying to remember if he left the oven on. You're a pitcher, son, not a model – just throw the ball! And of course he's a Cubs prospect, so he's got about five years before they ruin that arm and trade him to the Dodgers for a bag of sunflower seeds.

ABOUT CADE HORTON

Cade Horton is one of the Cubs' top pitching prospects, and he's moving through the system fast after reaching Triple-A Iowa in just his second pro season. The guy's got serious stuff, a fastball that hits 98 with movement, a nasty slider, and a curveball that can touch 90 mph. He was a Baseball America Minor League All-Star in 2023 and is ranked as a consensus top-100 prospect heading into 2025, so the hype is real. Since he doesn't have official rookie cards yet, collectors are chasing his prospect cards hard right now, especially numbered parallels and autographs, because those will be the only early cards once he breaks into the majors.

Leading the Cubs to a 12-1 victory over the Angels on August 23, Cade needed just 74 pitches to breeze through six scoreless innings. The rookie right-hander allowed only three hits and one walk while striking out seven.

— 2026 FINEST

In 2025, Cade posted the lowest ERA by a Cubs rookie with at least 100 innings since Chuck McElroy (1.95 in 1991). Horton dazzled in his last 2026 start, going 8.1 with a 1.03 ERA and 51 strikeouts.
