📣 DAD’S TAKEON DUKE JOHNSON JR.

A lone base Contenders card from his debut Texans campaign tells you everything about where Johnson stood in the collecting hierarchy. Four years catching passes in Cleveland earned him exactly one documented Houston issue before the franchise moved on. The third-round conditional pick that brought him over ended up being worth more than his cardboard legacy in Deep Steel Blue.

ABOUT DUKE JOHNSON JR.

Duke Johnson Jr. played college football for the Miami Hurricanes and was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft. The Miami native finished his career as the University of Miami's all-time leader in total rushing yards, total all-purpose yards and total kickoff return yards. In his first four seasons in the NFL (2015-18), Johnson recorded 1,286 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 299 carries and 2,170 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns on 235 receptions. The Houston Texans acquired Johnson from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a conditional 2020 draft pick in August 2019. Johnson finished his career with 2,265 rushing yards, 311 receptions for 2,870 receiving yards, and 23 total touchdowns.

This single-card collection features Johnson in his first season with Houston after the trade from Cleveland. The 2019 Contenders base issue captures the running back during a transitional year when he shared backfield duties with Carlos Hyde.
