About Pete Fairbanks
Pete has one of the fastest fastballs in the game and a nasty slider to go with it. Beginning on June 23, 2021, he converted 13 consecutive save chances to the Rays' 6-5 triumph over the Orioles on July 31. Pete has been one of the most reliable closers in the game since becoming Tampa Bay's closer in 2020. He has 51 saves over the last two seasons and has been a key part of the Rays' success. Pete was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 9th round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Oklahoma. He was traded to Tampa Bay in 2018 and has been with the organization ever since. Pete has established himself as one of the top closers in the American League and will look to continue his success in 2025.
