THE JIM KELLY COLLECTION
Base, parallels, numbered, autos — every Jim Kelly card Dad’s willing to part with.

Look at this guy posing like he's about to throw a touchdown in a commercial for breakfast cereal! That helmet's so shiny and perfect, I bet he spent more time in the mirror than studying film. And what's with that fancy scrambling pose – back in my day quarterbacks stayed in the pocket like men instead of prancing around like they're auditioning for Dancing with the Stars!
ABOUT JIM KELLY
Jim Kelly was the Buffalo Bills quarterback who finally gave that franchise the superstar they'd been waiting for. He was drafted in the first round but spent a few years in the USFL before joining Buffalo in 1986, where he immediately made an impact with nearly 300 passing yards in his NFL debut. Kelly became the face of those great Bills teams in the late 80s and early 90s, leading them to four straight Super Bowl appearances. Since he doesn't have true rookie cards from his draft year, his early Buffalo cards from the mid-80s are what collectors chase. Look for his key early issues in high grade, especially anything from his first few NFL seasons.
Jim's strong right arm and competitive fire have made him a favorite quarterback among Bills fans since he joined the team in 1986. A graduate of the University of Miami, Kelly spent four seasons in the USFL with the Houston Gamblers before joining Buffalo. The strong-armed signal caller has led the Bills to four consecutive AFC Championship games and two Super Bowl appearances.
When Kelly took the field for Buffalo in Week 1 of 1986, he was everything Bills fans hoped for and more. A first-round pick three years earlier, the QB shredded the Jets in his first NFL action, tallying 292 passing yards. He dialed up three passes, including a 55-yard highlight completion with Andre Reed.
Jim Kelly's 1990 season had a storybook conclusion when he led the Bills to their first AFC championship in 25 years. Kelly completed 219 of 346 passes for 2,829 yards and 24 touchdowns during the regular season, then guided Buffalo through the playoffs with victories over Miami and the Los Angeles Raiders. The strong-armed quarterback from the University of Miami was the Bills' first-round draft choice in 1983, but he elected to play in the USFL instead. When that league folded after the 1985 season, Kelly joined Buffalo and has been the triggerman for one of the NFL's most explosive offenses.

Jim Kelly's numbers tell a former linebacker who was a three-year starter at Miami. He was a first-round draft choice of the Buffalo Bills in 1983, but elected to play in the USFL with the Houston Gamblers for two seasons before joining the Bills in 1986. Jim has thrown for over 3,000 yards in each of his first four NFL seasons.
Jim Kelly's statistics tell a former quarterback story, but they don't tell the whole story. In 1988 Jim Kelly threw for 2,798 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 59.4% of his passes. But more impressive were his leadership qualities and his ability to bring out the best in his teammates. Kelly has the arm strength to make all the throws and the intelligence to read defenses quickly.
Jim's leadership qualities and a strong right arm have made him one of the premier quarterbacks in the NFL. But what a long, strange trip it's been for the former University of Miami star.
