📣 DAD’S TAKEON DAVE CASPER

Look at this joker with his feathered hair and dopey grin, holding that helmet like he's auditioning for a shampoo commercial instead of playing football. And what's with the number 44? That's a fullback number, son – real tight ends wear something in the 80s where they belong. The Vikings were so desperate they put him in purple for exactly ten games in 1983, and judging by that hair, he spent more time finding a blow dryer in Minneapolis than learning the playbook.

ABOUT DAVE CASPER

Oh Dave Casper, now there's a tough tight end who could really play. He's probably best remembered for that incredible 1977 playoff game where he got hurt early but came back to haul in the game winner from Ken Stabler in double overtime against Baltimore, just 10 seconds left on the clock. The guy was clutch when it mattered most and had great hands in traffic. Even though he's listed here with the Vikings, collectors usually want his cards from his Oakland days when he made his biggest impact. Since he doesn't have rookie cards, look for his early career stuff and any cards featuring that legendary playoff catch.

In the 1977 divisional playoff Dave Casper was injured in the first quarter but came back to catch the winning touchdown pass from Ken Stabler with 10 seconds left to give Oakland a 37-31 double overtime victory over Baltimore.

His one grab that didn't go for a score became the story, however, as the tight end legged a 42-yard catch on 'Ghost to the Post' to set up the tying field goal to force extra time.
