THE RONDE BARBER COLLECTION
Base, parallels, numbered, autos — every Ronde Barber card Dad’s willing to part with.
Look at this guy posing like he's about to sell me a used car instead of playing football. Standing there with his hands clasped together like he's waiting for someone to ask him to prom. For a Hall of Famer who supposedly terrorized offenses for 16 years, he looks about as intimidating as my nephew's CPA.
ABOUT RONDE BARBER
Ronde Barber was one of those versatile defensive backs who could cover receivers, stuff the run, and make plays all over the field for Tampa Bay. The Bucs grabbed him in the third round back in '97 out of Virginia, and he became a cornerstone of their defense for years. He was a huge part of that Super Bowl championship team in 2002, really anchoring that secondary when they needed it most. Since he doesn't have true rookie cards from his draft year, collectors usually focus on his early second-year issues and any autographed versions. Look for low-numbered parallels and anything from his Super Bowl season, those tend to hold their value pretty well.
Barber, who could do pretty much everything on a football field, was selected by Tampa Bay in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft. The former University of Virginia standout has been a fixture in the Buccaneers secondary since his rookie season and was a key member of Tampa Bay's Super Bowl XXXVII championship team.
Ronde was considered to be 18 seasons, and has been one of the most consistent players in the NFL. Barber was named to five Pro Bowls and was a member of Tampa Bay's Super Bowl XXXVII championship team. He is the twin brother of former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber.
