THE ROBERT BRAZILE COLLECTION
Base, parallels, numbered, autos — every Robert Brazile card Dad’s willing to part with.
Look at this guy running around like he's late for a business meeting in shoulder pads. Number 52 was apparently so good they put him in the Hall of Fame, but in this picture he looks like he's trying to remember if he left the stove on. Seven Pro Bowls and the best photo they could find makes him look like he's chasing down the ice cream truck.
ABOUT ROBERT BRAZILE
Robert Brazile was an absolute force at linebacker for the Houston Oilers during the 1970s and early 80s, and he finally got his Hall of Fame call in 2018. The guy was Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1975 as the sixth overall pick out of Jackson State, then went to seven straight Pro Bowls after that. He racked up over 1,200 tackles in his ten year career and was a two time First Team All-Pro, which is pretty elite company. Since he doesn't have a true rookie card, collectors focus on his early second year issues and any autographed memorabilia, which can be tough to find since he's not as widely collected as some other Hall of Famers from that era.
INDUCTED INTO PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME IN 2018. EARNED SEVEN PRO BOWL SELECTIONS WITH OILERS. RACKED UP 1,281 TACKLES IN 10 NFL SEASONS. The first Oiler to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, Brazile did it on the strength of a season that featured 7.0 sacks and five fumble recoveries from the sixth overall pick of 1975. The Jackson State product followed up with seven consecutive Pro Bowl seasons and twice made First Team All-Pro.
Brazile dished out some of the biggest hits in NFL history, and he did it with a grin on his face as wide as the Texas skies. "Guys told me they couldn't understand how I hit so hard, but I never stopped smiling … it was like I was enjoying it," the Hall of Famer said. "Well, I did enjoy it. I loved every minute of it."
Brazile started his Hall of Fame career with a strong debut campaign in 1975. Drafted by the Oilers with the No. 6 overall pick, the linebacker quickly became an integral piece defensively. Recording 7.0 sacks and recovering five fumbles helped him claim Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.
