📣 DAD’S TAKEON CHASE BURNS

Look at this kid practicing his pitching motion in what appears to be a batting cage during some kind of amateur photo day. Eight strikeouts in your debut and they've got you posing like you're at a high school tryout instead of on an actual mound? And those red-trimmed shoes with the black practice jersey – did nobody tell him this was for an actual baseball card?

ABOUT CHASE BURNS

Oh man, Chase Burns is the real deal. This kid was the first guy from the 2024 draft class to reach the majors, and he made one heck of an entrance with the Reds in June 2025, striking out the first five Yankees he faced in his debut. That's actually a record for a pitcher making his first start, at least going back to 1961, which is pretty wild. He finished that game with eight punchouts total in a Reds win. Since he doesn't have true rookie cards yet, his prospect cards and first Bowman stuff are what serious collectors are chasing, and anything numbered or autographed is going to carry a premium.

Chase struck out eight in his big-league debut in a 5-4 home victory over the New York Yankees on June 24, 2025, including five in a row to start the contest. The inaugural pitcher from the 2024 draft class to make it to The Show, the fire-balling Burns became the first hurler to record five straight whiffs in his maiden start since at least 1961.

— 2026 TOPPS SERIES 2

Chase logged double-digit strikeouts for the first time on July 11, punching out 10 Colorado batters at home. The right-hander allowed just two runs over six innings. He fanned the side in the fourth stanza.

The Reds loved what they saw from Chase during July and August 2025, shortly after his inaugural big-league game. Burns racked up 10 strikeouts four times during a five-start stretch, underscoring his elite arsenal. The right-hander dominated on the farms that season, proving why Cincinnati drafted him second in 2024. He crafted a 1.77 ERA and a 0.773 WHIP across 13 outings, with 12.1 SOs/9 IP. Chase began the year at High-A Dayton and ended it in MLB.
