📣 DAD’S TAKEON JASE MITCHELL
Three Bowman cards across two years for a seventh rounder who hit .168 in rookie ball tells you everything about modern prospect chasing. Sure, he signed overslot and has the tools scouts drool over, but collectors are already hunting his autographs and parallels before he's seen full season pitching. The Bowman machine keeps churning out cards for teenagers who haven't proven anything yet, and here we are sorting through BCP this and BP that.
ABOUT JASE MITCHELL
The Houston Astros selected Jase Mitchell in the seventh round with the 216th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, making him the highest selection out of a Delaware high school since the Texas Rangers took Indian River's Jamie Jarmon in the second round in 2012. The left-handed hitting, right-throwing catcher from Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware, stands 6'3" and 205 pounds. Mitchell signed for a significantly overslot $800,000, making him the Astros' first pick in the top ten rounds from Delaware in over ten years. He passed on his commitment to Kentucky to sign with the Astros, and was assigned to the FCL Astros in August 2025.
Mitchell appears in the 2025 Bowman Chrome set and received his first base Bowman cards in the 2026 release. Scouting reports note his frame for power, present strength, good arm, and athleticism that could translate to corner outfield if catching doesn't work out. MLB Pipeline noted he has plus raw power and a plus arm behind the plate. His early prospect cards document the beginning of a professional career for a toolsy backstop with considerable upside.
