DALLAS MAVERICKS
The Mavericks binder is a mixed bag—plenty of Dirk because of course there is, some Ryan Nembhard rookies finding their way in, and a solid stack of Donruss doing the heavy lifting. No autos yet, but that’ll change when I crack enough boxes and next season’s rookie class starts showing up in the mail.
After a 2024 Finals run that ended in a loss to Boston, the Mavericks fell to 39-43 in 2024-25 and missed the playoffs via a Play-In loss. The February 2025 trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers for Anthony Davis and assets shocked the league, and Kyrie Irving's March 2025 ACL tear derailed the season further. The 2025-26 campaign bottomed out at 26-56, GM Nico Harrison was fired in November 2025 after the Davis acquisition backfired, but winning the draft lottery yielded Cooper Flagg at No. 1 overall, and he won Rookie of the Year. Doncic's cards surged with Lakers collectors while Davis inventory cooled after his brief Dallas stint; Flagg rookies became the franchise's new chase cards.
Where they stand: The 2025-26 season is complete, with Dallas finishing 26-56 and missing the playoffs. New president Masai Ujiri and GM Mike Schmitz took over the front office after the franchise reset, and the offseason saw Anthony Davis dealt to Washington in a three-team trade while the team added center Morez Johnson Jr. at pick No. 9 in the 2026 draft and guard Sergio de Larrea at No. 25. Kyrie Irving is expected back from his torn ACL in 2026-27, with the roster now built around Flagg and depth pieces acquired in the Davis unwind.
