The Bearcats have struggled through three seasons in the Big 12, posting records of 3-9, 5-7, and 7-6 from 2023-2025 under Scott Satterfield. Transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby drove collector interest during his two seasons (2024-2025) with dual-threat production and preseason award hype, but his cards took a hit in spring 2026 when a gambling scandal surfaced and ended his eligibility. Tight end Joe Royer (Ohio State transfer) and linebacker Jake Golday saw draft buzz heading into 2025's bowl season, while offensive tackle John Williams went to Green Bay in the 2025 NFL Draft as Cincinnati's lone selection.
