Dylan
Sampson

Good things come to those who wait. For Sampson, this manifests in the form of big plays on the ground after letting his offensive linemen do their jobs. Securing the handoff, the Browns rookie showcases his patience and then dashes through the hole to move the chains.

Sampson has always been insanely fast. In 2019, he was named the most outstanding male track athlete in his high school district by starring as a sprinter. He was also one of Louisiana's best, achieving personal bests of 21.57 in the 200 and 6.90 in the 60 indoor.

It's easy to see how Sampson aced the Browns' job interview. The running back checks every box of an ideal candidate. A self-starter who's highly motivated and never takes plays off, the fast-learning speedster joined the team ready to take home employee of the month.

While an efficient tally of yards is indeed the best running backs are the ones who cross the goal line with regularity. That's what made Sampson such a valued pro prospect. With the Tennessee Volunteers in 2024, the star splinter found paydirt 22 times across 13 appearances.

Dylan Sampson was a key part of the Tennessee offense in 2024. He rushed for 1,485 yards and 22 touchdowns on 271 carries. He also caught 21 passes for 173 yards and a score. Sampson was named first-team All-SEC and was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award.

Sampson helped get the 2024 campaign off to a strong start. During the first quarter of Tennessee's first game (Aug. 31), the back powered into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown. It was his first of three scores on the day that powered a season-opening rout of Chattanooga.

The SEC rushing champion in 2024, Sampson has a skill set that produced in an elite college football conference. It makes sense that an NFL team would want him in the huddle, especially one that likes to run the ball like Cleveland. As a Brown, the rookie fit right in doing what made him shine at Tennessee.

After finishing last in the 2025 NFL Draft, Sampson set a school record at the University of Tennessee with 22 touchdowns in 11 straight games and finished his career with 35 scores in 35 games.
