About James Lofton

James Lofton was one of those pure speed guys who could just flat out fly past defenders during his prime with Green Bay in the 1980s. The man was basically unstoppable when it came to the deep ball, and in 1983 he had an absolutely monster season leading the NFL in receiving yards. He was that classic deep threat receiver who could turn any play into a house call if you gave him even a step. Since he doesn't have rookie cards, collectors usually focus on his early second-year issues and key cards from his peak seasons. Look for his better conditioned cards from the mid-80s, especially any numbered parallels or special inserts from that era.

There wasn't a single man Lofton couldn't outrun or outjump on a football field in the 1980s. One of the best deep threats of his era, he consistently made big plays for the Packers. At the height of his powers in 1983, he needed only 58 catches to rack up 1,300 yards, packing the NFL with 22.4 yards per grab.

One of the last deep threats of his era, he consistently made big plays for the Packers over the height of his career in 1983, the same year he led the NFL with 2,724 yards, pacing the NFL with 1,300 yards to rack up 1,300 yards.

Dad’s Take on James Lofton

Look at this guy running around like he's late for Sunday dinner! That mustache makes him look like he should be selling used cars instead of catching footballs. Sure, he could outrun everyone in the 1980s, but with that 'stache and those high socks, he looks more like he'd be faster at organizing his tool shed than scoring touchdowns!
