THE QUINTON MARTIN COLLECTION
Base, parallels, numbered, autos — every Quinton Martin card Dad’s willing to part with.
Look at this guy running around with his hands up like he just saw a spider in the locker room. Number 25 over here took his sweet time to develop at Penn State – probably spent his first couple years practicing those jazz hands instead of actual football. Kid's got more panic in his pose than a dad who just realized he left the grill on.
ABOUT QUINTON MARTIN
So Quinton Martin here is a defensive player who really came into his own during his final two years with Penn State. He was one of those guys who needed time to develop, barely seeing the field his first couple seasons before absolutely exploding as a junior with nearly 70 tackles and over 4 sacks. His senior year was even better, and he helped anchor a defense that had some serious success. Since he doesn't have true rookie cards, collectors are mainly looking at his college issues, and any numbered parallels or autographed versions are going to carry the most value.
For Martin, producing at such a high level in the college ranks was something that took time to develop. After playing sparingly as a freshman and sophomore, Martin broke out in a big way during his junior campaign, racking up 68 tackles and 4.5 sacks while helping lead the Aggies to an 11-2 record and a berth in the Orange Bowl. Martin followed that up with an even better senior season, posting 71 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
For Martin, practice was the biggest adjustment at the college level, and the competition was just so much more constant and constantly moving, and I had a routine, but it never really had to be as on point as it has to be in college. "You're constantly moving," he said. "In high school, I mean, I had a routine, but it never really had to be as on point as it has to be in college." Because if you're not doing that, somebody else is.
Martin was a standout at the collegiate level, earning recognition as one of the top safeties in college football. His athletic prowess and field vision made him a highly sought-after prospect. Martin's combination of size, speed, and football IQ caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to his selection in the draft. Known for his hard-hitting style and ability to read quarterbacks, Martin brings a physical presence to the secondary.
He became just the second player in program history to record 1,000+ receiving yards in a season and finished his career ranked second in program history in receiving yards (2,458), receptions (149) and receiving touchdowns (19).
