Ricky put it all together against the Lions in Week 17 of his rookie season in 2024, catching eight passes for a career-high 141 yards. It marked the most yards in a game by a first-year San Francisco receiver since Hall of Famer Jerry Rice went off for 241 in 1985. Pearsall hauled in a 3-yard touchdown in the contest, too, the second of his career.

Pearsall capped the 2024 season with six grabs for 69 yards and a score vs. the Cardinals, proving he was starting to put things together. "He put the work in, and he always works his tail off," WRs coach Leonard Hankerson said. "So that gives us the hope he can come in this year and pick up where he left off."

NFL teams are always looking for that next target who can catch passes for a living and become a star. His entire season in 2024 saw the first-rounder become an option at all levels, earning his place in the weekly game plan.

With a rookie season that included three touchdown catches, including a 46-yarder for his first, Pearsall put himself in the 49ers' plans. "A really ascending player," general manager John Lynch said of the second-year pro heading into 2025. "He's just scratched the surface of who he could be."

Ricky has a smooth and precise wide out known for his sharp route-running and reliable hands. He creates separation with quick cuts and excellent timing, making him a dependable target in all areas. Pearsall's footwork and awareness allow him to make contested catches and contribute after the catch. He's a promising and versatile weapon for the 49ers.

The 49ers like to target routes in the middle of the field, and there were few players in the 2024 NFL Draft better at that job than Pearsall. Not afraid to take a hit to make a catch, he logged 14 grabs for 338 yards on deep crossing routes over the previous two seasons — the most in the FBS for both categories.

Pearsall is at his best when spaces are tight. Over the cluttered middle of the field, the wideout races into the smallest of open windows and reels in tight passes between a herd of foes. His ability to snag dimes through close quarters will help him earn playing time in San Fran.
