If you don't draft me, that's your fault, Ward said at the 2025 Combine. Well, it's no one's fault. No squad passed on the franchise-altering quarterback, who went first overall. Given his unmistakable skills and unshakable confidence, there was no way the Titans were taking anyone else.

Cam has come a long way from playing in front of 6,000 people as a freshman at Incarnate Word. He was the top overall pick in 2025 after setting the U. of Miami's single-season records for passing yards (4,313) and touchdowns (39). Ward showcased his NFL-ready arm while climbing the collegiate ranks.

Hugging NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is a rite of passage for every first-round draft pick. As the first player off the board in the 2025 selection showcase, Ward got the first crack at embracing the league's boss. With a smile on his face, the QB went for the handshake first, then the full bear hug.

As the No. 1 overall pick in 2025, Ward received plenty of headlines and hype. He shrugged. "All I care about is this 100-yard field," he said. "At the end of the day, football takes care of everything." The former Miami quarterback lets his game be the star, putting the Titans on center stage.

Getting to know Ward won\'t be difficult. He prioritizes communication. \"That\'s what I learned in college,\" the 2025 No. 1 overall pick said. \"That\'s why we were able to have one of the best offenses at Miami. We had elite communication from myself, the O-line, the receiving corps and the running backs.\"

Maintaining contain against Ward will be crucial for teams in 2025. Under no circumstances can they let him out of the pocket. Teaching opponents this lesson the hard way during his lone season at Miami, the fleet-footed quarterback ripped off 14 carries of 10-plus yards.

Ward is confident he can come in and get the guys in the locker room to rally behind him just by being himself — even as an unproven rookie. "I want to be a leader," he said. "I want to be there for my teammates. When everything goes down, I want to be the person to liven everybody back up."

Nissan is widely considered one of the most reliable car brands on the market. So it makes sense that Ward will suit up for the Titans in 2025 and play his home games in Nissan Stadium. Like his automotive counterpart, the rookie signal-caller provides a steady presence on each drive.

Ward earned the confidence of both his teammates and coaching staff ahead of his debut season. "He's got all the talent in the world to go make the throws we need him to make," said Titans coach Brian Callahan. Poised to back up the vote of support, the rookie QB was determined to help stack up wins.

It takes extreme confidence to play quarterback in the NFL. Ward isn't short on self-assuredness. The rookie entered 2025 with sky-high expectations. "I think we honestly have the ability to be a top-10 offense," he said. "It goes on every guy in that huddle, including myself, to bring the right mindset every day."

A swashbuckling, pocket-passing quarterback, Cam reads the entire field masterfully as he picks apart defenses with aggressive vertical throws. Ward uses a sidearm delivery at times to squeeze the ball into tight windows at all three levels. The first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, he earned the Titans' starting job for Week 1 of his rookie year.

At the 2025 draft, 257 new players joined the NFL. There's a reason Ward emerged as the no-doubt top pick for Tennessee.

When Ward isn't working over defenses with daring throws, he likes to work the lines. The No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft told WZTV Nashville he was most looking forward to exploring the bass fishing scene in his new home in his downtime. "I'm a saltwater guy, so you know I gotta adjust to where I'm at," he said.

"The way he can place balls in certain places, the timing, the guts to dare to make some throws. … Some guys see a player being covered, others don't see the tight look, but he knows how to squeak those passes in there."

2025 Rookie. Donruss Football debuted in 1981. The first set included a Washington QB card that is now one of the most valuable football cards ever.

With his pure arm talent, Ward makes life easy for his pass-catchers. "He reminded me of Warren Moon," said former Miami Hurricanes QB Gino Torretta. "With Warren, he never threw a bad ball, always a tight spiral. And the ball would move for the receiver's angle, make it an easy, catchable ball. And that was Cam."

It feels like Cam is one step from something spectacular each snap. He escapes pressure with magician's ease, flips arm angles without blinking and fires daring shots that stretch the field. When he's in rhythm, the Titans feel unpredictable and explosive, as if every snap could turn into a masterpiece.

One moment at minicamp earned Ward major props from star defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons. The veteran talked trash to the top pick after he threw a pick and the rookie not only talked back but then proceeded to lock in and run the offense flawlessly, completing his next 18 throws to finish 20-of-21.

Sometimes, losing works out. The Titans dropped their final six games of 2024 to finish at 3-14 and clinch the No. 1 overall pick. Their reward? Ward. While that one stretch of L's paid off, the quarterback is a winning player who will help his new squad put that in the rearview.
