About Gary Clark

Gary Clark was one of those reliable receivers who just got the job done for Washington during their championship years. He put together four straight 1,000-yard seasons starting in 1986, including that Super Bowl XXII run where he hauled in 74 catches for over 1,200 yards. Clark doesn't have rookie cards since he entered the league before the modern card era really took off, but collectors still chase his early issues from those dominant late 80s seasons. His cards from the championship years tend to hold the most value, and you'll want to look for clean corners since those older cards can show wear pretty easily.

Building toward something special, Clark came up with his first 1,000-yard season in 1986. That campaign began a string of four straight seasons in which he went over the 1,000-yard mark. Clark caught 74 passes for 1,265 yards and seven touchdowns in 1987. To make that year even sweeter, the went all the way with Washington and became a Super Bowl XXII champion.

Dad’s Take on Gary Clark

Look at this guy posing like he's dancing the electric slide instead of running a route! Gary Clark's got his arms all akimbo like he's trying to hail a taxi while jogging through the park. Sure, he had four straight 1,000-yard seasons, but from this card you'd think his specialty was interpretive dance, not catching footballs!
