📣 DAD’S TAKEON CEDRIC COWARD

Look at this kid crouching there like he's trying to hide from his barber. Division III to the NBA is impressive, sure, but did they not have gyms with proper lighting at any of those schools? And "Coward" on the back of a Grizzlies jersey – that's like naming your guard dog "Fluffy."

ABOUT CEDRIC COWARD

So Cedric Coward has one of the coolest stories you'll hear in basketball. This guy started at a Division III school, Willamette, then worked his way up through Eastern Washington and Washington State before the Grizzlies took him in the first round. He's literally the first D-III player to go that high since Devean George back in 1999, which is pretty incredible when you think about the odds. Since he doesn't have traditional rookie cards, his early Memphis stuff is what collectors are chasing. Look for numbered parallels and autographs, those are going to be the key pieces for his collection.

Coward is a swingman who seems to grow taller at the rim. As a senior in college in 2024-25, he suspended after 710 rebounds and 1,127 points — each of which topped his team. The 6-8 performer is ready to rise to the occasion at the next level for Memphis.

— 2025 DONRUSS

Coward defies logic like an animated character sprinting off a cliff who keeps running midair. Boasting cartoon physics, nothing sticks to him. He zips, floats and rebounds out of thin air. Contact doesn't stop him — it only makes the moment louder. You don't guard him: You simply chase the blur he leaves behind.

— 2025 DONRUSS

From Division III beginnings, Cedric made it to the NBA. Coward played at Willamette before stints at Eastern Washington and Washington State. He's the first former D-III player this century to go in the opening round, matching Devean George's 1999 feat.
