Look at these guys standing around like they just won the company softball tournament. And what's with Skenes winning a Cy Young with a 1.97 ERA – back in my day, pitchers did that EVERY year without getting a trophy for it. Now they're promoting some kid named "Bubba" because apparently we're just handing out major league jobs at the county fair.

Oh man, Paul Skenes is the real deal. This Pirates ace absolutely dominated in 2025, winning the NL Cy Young with a ridiculous 1.97 ERA and 17 WAR, which are just insane numbers for a young pitcher. He's part of what's shaping up to be an elite rotation in Pittsburgh, and collectors are all over his stuff right now because he's establishing himself as one of the best arms in baseball. Since he doesn't have traditional rookie cards yet, his early base cards and first appearances are commanding serious premiums, and anything numbered or autographed is going to hold major value as his career progresses.
Pittsburgh has the makings of one of the best young pitching staffs in the game. Paul Skenes maintained his dominance in 2025, posting 17 WAR and an MLB-best 1.97 ERA en route to winning his first NL Cy Young Award. The Pirates promoted another possible ace in August when they elevated top prospect Bubba Chandler. In seven outings, Chandler logged a 4-1 record and a 1.93 WAR over 31 1/3 innings.
