📣 DAD’S TAKEON BRIAN BURNS

Look at this guy doing some kind of weird yoga pose on the football field – what is this, a meditation retreat? Burns went to something called "Sack Summit" which sounds like the kind of made-up motivational nonsense my nephew would pay $500 to attend. Back in my day, you learned how to rush the passer by actually rushing the passer, not by striking poses like you're auditioning for Cirque du Soleil!

ABOUT BRIAN BURNS

Brian Burns is a pass rushing specialist who made an immediate impact after the Giants traded for him, leading the NFC with 17 tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hits in his first season in New York. He's one of those edge rushers who just has a knack for being around the ball at the right moment, whether that's getting to the quarterback or making plays in the backfield. Collectors love him because he's entering his prime years and the Giants defense has become a lot more exciting with him on the roster. Since he doesn't have rookie cards from his Giants tenure, look for his first cards in a Giants uniform and any numbered parallels, as those tend to hold premium value for players who switch teams and immediately produce.

Going into his seventh season, the two-time Pro Bowl pick was the leader on an emerging Giants defense. Burns earned an honorable mention on ESPN.com's list of the game's top 10 edge rushers. "He's still got premier ability, someone you have to account for on every snap," one NFL personnel evaluator said.

— 2025 SELECT

Brian is a blur off the edge — long, twitchy and bendy enough to look like he's turning corners on skates. His first step jolts tackles upright, while his swipe-and-rip combo is art. Burns sets the tempo and ruins protection plans routinely. In his rookie season, Burns quickly emerged as a disruptive edge presence, leading all NFL rookies in sacks for Carolina.

— 2025 SIGNATURE CLASS

As an elite pass-rusher, Burns went to the 'Sack Summit' in 2024. In what has to be bad news for offensive linemen around the league, he came away with an even greater arsenal of pressure moves. 'Just trying to pick the older guys' brains,' he said of his journey to the players-only clinic.

— 2025 MOSAIC

Going into his seventh season, the two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher has recorded at least seven sacks in each of his first six seasons. His honorable mention on ESPN's count list of the game's top 10 edge rushers. In 2023, Burns had 7.5 sacks and you have to account for an every-snap role with the NFL's second-ranked defense.

— 2025 PRIZM BLACK

In his first year as a Giant, Burns delivered big, his 17 tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hits led the NFC. Last year in the right place at the right time all the time after being acquired in a huge trade.

— 2025 DONRUSS

Burns hit his stride when the calendar flipped to October in 2024. Beginning with a 29-20 win over Seattle in Week 5, the veteran pass-rusher recorded a sack in five of his next six contests. He capped the run with a quarterback takedown against the Panthers, his former team, in Munich.

— 2025 PRIZM

Known for his spider-like footwork, back-bending balance, and the ability to shed blockers, Burns became the eighth player in NFL history to record 7.5 or more sacks in each of his initial six seasons.

— 2025 CHROME

During training camp in 2024, Burns talked about just getting warmed up as an NFL player and hitting his prime in the seasons to come. That's good news for the Giants, who welcomed the idea of him reaching his peak in New York. It looks like they brought in the former Carolina linebacker right on time.

— 2024 CONTENDERS

In 2023, Burns continued building on his reputation as one of the league's elite pass-rushers. Carolina's two-time Pro Bowl defensive end lived up to his own high standards, piling up five sacks, 10 quarterback hits and nine tackles for loss over his first eight games.
