KANSAS CITY ROYALS
The Royals are back to not being a total embarrassment, which means their cards are worth organizing again. We’ve got Bobby Witt Jr. leading the charge, plenty of Bowman Chrome prospects like Jac Caglianone, and a few signed ones sprinkled in for good measure. With Kansas City actually developing talent again, expect this binder to keep piling up with rookies and first Bowmans as next season’s releases hit the shelves.
The Royals surged from a 56-106 disaster in 2023 to an 86-76 playoff berth in 2024, their first postseason appearance since 2015, with Bobby Witt Jr. hitting .332/.389/.588 and finishing second in AL MVP voting to drive collector demand for his cards. Kansas City slipped to 82-80 and missed the playoffs in 2025, though Witt posted a .295 average with 23 homers and led MLB in hits (184) and doubles (47). The Jonathan India trade from Cincinnati (sending Brady Singer to the Reds) brought disappointing results, while injuries to key pitchers Cole Ragans, Kris Bubic, and Seth Lugo plagued the 2025 campaign.
Where they stand: The Royals are 41-60 this season and sit 5th in the AL Central as of August 9, 2026. Injuries have derailed the year, with ace Cole Ragans—a fourth-place Cy Young finisher in 2024—spending much of the season on the shelf, along with Vinnie Pasquantino's struggles. Kansas City sold pieces at the deadline, trading Lane Thomas and Bailey Falter to Atlanta and Kris Bubic to the Dodgers.
