📣 DAD’S TAKEON JOSH HAMMOND
A barely 20-year-old kid with one A-ball season gets the Prizm treatment already. Five homers in 110 games at Columbia does not scream first-round pedigree, though 25 steals show some wheels. The scouting reports gush about raw power, but the results so far suggest he needs more seasoning before the cardboard factories start printing parallels by the truckload.
ABOUT JOSH HAMMOND
Josh Hammond was drafted 28th overall by the Kansas City Royals in the 2025 Major League Baseball draft, a Prospect Promotion Incentive pick the Royals received because Bobby Witt Jr. finished in the top three of the 2024 AL MVP race. Hammond attended Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina, where he played shortstop and was a pitcher in high school. In Summer 2024, he played with the USA Baseball's 18U National Team. Despite being committed to play college baseball at Wake Forest University, Hammond signed with the Royals for a $3.19 million bonus on July 21, 2025.
In 2026, Hammond was assigned to Columbia Fireflies and appeared in 110 games, posting a .286 batting average with 5 home runs, 39 RBI, and 25 stolen bases. His 2026 Prizm base card marks an early cardboard appearance for the athletic shortstop prospect who projects as a future third baseman.
