Michigan went 8-5 in 2024 under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore, then finished 9-4 in 2025 before Moore was fired in December. Seven Wolverines were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, including Mason Graham, Colston Loveland, Kenneth Grant, and Will Johnson, while six more departed in the 2026 draft, headlined by edge rusher Derrick Moore. The mass exodus of defensive talent—Graham and Grant went in the first round, Moore in the second—created opportunities for collector interest to shift toward remaining players and incoming prospects, while cards of the 2025 draftees spiked during their draft-season runs.

Where they stand: Michigan enters 2026 under first-year head coach Kyle Whittingham, who went 177-88 in 21 seasons at Utah. Fall camp began in early August following a tumultuous offseason with a coaching transition and roster overhaul, and sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood—who threw 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions as a true freshman in 2025—is the centerpiece of the rebuild. The Wolverines open September 5 against Western Michigan.
