Standing there like he's waiting for the bus, not protecting a quarterback!
ABOUT JIMBO COVERT
Oh man, Jimbo Covert is one of those Hall of Fame offensive tackles that serious collectors absolutely love but casual fans might overlook. This guy was protecting quarterbacks for the Bears during their legendary 1980s run, going up against monsters like Lawrence Taylor and never letting them through. He made First Team All-Pro twice and earned a spot on the NFL's All-Decade team for the 80s, which tells you everything about how dominant he was in the trenches. Since he doesn't have traditional rookie cards from his playing days, his early cards from the mid to late 80s are what collectors hunt for. Look for his cards in good condition since offensive linemen don't always get the same card treatment as skill position players, making clean copies pretty valuable.
INDUCTED INTO THE PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME IN 2020. TWO-TIME FIRST TEAM ALL-PRO SELECTION (1985-86). MEMBER OF THE NFL 1980s ALL-DECADE TEAM. Not many offensive tackles can say they went up against the likes of Lawrence Taylor and Lee Roy Selmon and never let them sack the quarterback. Covert played against a lot of excellent pass rushers. 'Covert can play against the best,' said Taylor, 'and I put him in the top echelon. I put him up there with the best of the best.'
