About Roger Staubach
Roger Staubach is one of those legendary Cowboys quarterbacks who defined what it means to be clutch under pressure. The guy was incredibly efficient in 1971, posting the best passer rating in the league and going undefeated in 13 starts, then capping it off by leading Dallas to a dominant Super Bowl victory over Miami. He's the kind of player who brings that "Captain America" mystique to the hobby, you know, clean-cut leader who delivered when it mattered most. Since he doesn't have true rookie cards, his early 70s issues are what collectors chase, and condition is everything with those vintage pieces. Look for sharp corners and good centering because even small flaws can really hurt the value on his key cards.
Staubach was remarkably efficient and extremely effective during his breakout 1971 season. Behind a league-best 104.8 passer rating, he led Dallas to 13 victories in 13 starts. That record included a 3-0 mark in the postseason, which Staubach capped with a 24-3 victory against Miami in Super Bowl VI.

A testament to forward thinking, the Cowboys drafted Staubach in the 10th round in 1964 despite him having another season at Navy plus a military commitment. The team\'s patience was rewarded when he took over as full-time starter in 1971, as the signal-caller earned six Pro Bowl nods and won two Super Bowls.

Dad’s Take on Roger Staubach
Look at this guy posing like he's about to throw a touchdown in a disco! That uniform is so shiny and reflective I need sunglasses just to look at the card – what is this, 1971 or a Saturday Night Fever audition? Sure, he had a great passer rating, but I bet half those completions were just receivers following the glare off that ridiculous prismatic uniform!
