Milroe's influence on an offense can go beyond his passing. His power as a runner, which he showed in college, is a trait the Seahawks want to use to their advantage as much as possible. "He's a unique, special athlete," general manager John Schneider said. "He can add something special as we go."

Following in the footsteps of Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen, Milroe is just as much a threat on the ground as he is through the air. At his Alabama Pro Day, he clocked a 4.37-second 40-yard dash. At the NFL Combine, that would've been the second-fastest time ever by a QB, behind Michael Vick (4.33).

Milroe stands out. It's true on tape, and it's true in person, as the Seahawks learned when they scouted the 6-foot-2, 217-pound QB. "It's like, 'Whoa! This is the guy running 22 miles an hour?'" GM John Schneider said. "He's a physical specimen." It's part of what made the rookie a prize of the Seattle draft.

Jalen couldn't be stopped on the ground when Alabama took on LSU on November 9, 2024, powering his way over the Tigers. Milroe ran for 185 yards and four touchdowns, getting in the end zone on runs of 39, 10, 19 and 72 yards in a 42-13 rout on the road.

Shortly after being drafted by the Seahawks in 2025, Milroe made his way to spring minicamp. He linked up with his fellow rookies and got his first taste of action as a pro. The signal-caller looked sharp, too, showcasing his elite arm and firing dimes to all three levels.

Do it themselves for the U.S. at Alabama, helping lead the Crimson Tide to the College Football Playoff. With everyone in the locker room fighting and defense, he said, those connections will pay off once it's time to start under center.

In college, Milroe strung together wins like the start of a website: W, W, W. The Alabama star made his clique click with on-target strikes that led straight to scores. His hotspot of helpers made him a top prospect of the 2025 draft, and Seattle refreshed its QB room by selecting him.

Don't blame Crimson Tide supporters for being reminded of another fan favorite when they watch Milroe. He's a fan, too. "I love Jalen Hurts," he said. "I'm a Texas kid. He was a Texas kid. And he was one of the reasons I came to the University of Alabama." Tuscaloosa is always glad for another playmaker.

Milroe's work ethic stood out while prepping for Year 1. "You see him in there at 4:30 in the morning on the field going through his plays," OC Klint Kubiak said. "Nobody's asking him to do that, but he's out there putting in extra time. Seen him grow a lot from rookie minicamp to now, so been impressed with the kid."

Seattle threw Milroe into fire at training camp and he responded well, performing in the clutch on one of the first days of drills.

Milroe boasts an absolute cannon of a right arm. Flexing his muscles, the signal-caller effortlessly puts an extra zip on his passes to ensure they get to their targets on time. They scream through the air and hit his receivers right in stride as they come out of their breaks.

Fellow rookie Robbie Ouzts is excited to continue playing with "Milly" after first getting to see the type of person he is at Alabama. "Nobody has a better work ethic than that kid," the fullback said on Wyman and Bob. "He's going to come in with a worker's mindset, and he's a natural-born leader as well."

It didn't matter if Milroe was throwing to uncovered targets or facing the Seahawks' stout secondary during training camp. Either way, the 2025 rookie quarterback delivered pinpoint passes. He zipped spirals all over the gridiron and smiled as his playmakers snatched them out of the air.

Milroe believes his passion for the game separates him from other QBs. "I love everything about it," he said at the Combine. "I know that where I'm at today, I'm going to be even better this time next year and so everything I try to do is for the better of the team and not be one-dimensional at all. I'm just committed."
