SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

The Giants finished 79-83 in 2023, 80-82 in 2024, and 81-81 in 2025, missing the playoffs in 2025 for the fourth consecutive season. The disappointing 2024 campaign led to the firing of President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi, who was replaced by former catcher Buster Posey, while Tony Vitello was named manager before the 2026 season. The team acquired slugger Rafael Devers from Boston in June 2025 to join core players Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, Heliot Ramos, and Jung Hoo Lee, but the high-priced roster has underperformed, making these veterans' cards vulnerable to further cooling despite their pedigree.
Where they stand: The Giants are 42-60 this season and sit 4th in the NL West as of early August 2026. Injuries have plagued the roster, with Matt Chapman likely requiring season-ending core muscle surgery and Casey Schmitt placed on the IL with a left knee meniscus tear, while pitcher Trevor McDonald will undergo Tommy John surgery in early August, likely ruling him out for most of 2027. Trade rumors have surfaced around expensive veterans including Jung Hoo Lee, Willy Adames, Rafael Devers, and Matt Chapman as the team sits well out of contention.
