📣 DAD’S TAKEON TONY DORSETT

Look at this guy running around like he's late for dinner, clutching that ball like it's the last piece of pie at a church social! Sure, he won some fancy trophy at Pitt, but in this picture he looks like he's about to trip over his own shoelaces with all that dramatic leaning. And what's with that death grip on the football – son, it's not going anywhere if you just tuck it properly under your arm like they taught you in Pop Warner!

ABOUT TONY DORSETT

Oh man, Tony Dorsett is an absolute legend, one of those Cowboys running backs that just had that special something. The guy was tearing up the league through the 80s in Dallas, then showed he wasn't done yet when he went to Denver and still put up over 700 yards rushing at that stage of his career. His vision and instincts were just incredible, the kind of player who could find holes that other backs couldn't even see. Unfortunately he doesn't have true rookie cards since he came into the league before the modern card era really took off, but his early 80s cards are still highly sought after. Look for his better conditioned examples and any numbered parallels, since those Dallas years made him a Hall of Famer that collectors always want in their collections.

First off a Heisman Trophy and a national title at the University of Pittsburgh, Dorsett didn't skip a beat when he landed in Dallas as the second overall pick in the 1977 NFL Draft. Getting right to work, he put up 1,007 rushing yards and a career-high 12 touchdown runs during his rookie campaign.

Dorsett dominated the league with Dallas during the 1980s and proved he still had plenty of juice when he arrived in Denver in 1988. Leaning on his natural instincts and elite vision, he carried the load and led the Broncos with 703 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Six seasons removed from their first Super Bowl win, the Cowboys needed help to climb back atop the NFL mountain in 1977. Dorsett provided that spark. He scored a career-high 12 touchdowns in his pro debut, then added four more scores in the postseason as Dallas marched to victory in Super Bowl XII.
