A prime Sutton matched with fast-rising QB Bo Nix is one of the most intriguing combos to watch in 2025. They made an instant connection in 2024, as Sutton set career highs in both targets (135) and catches (81) with the then-rookie throwing them his way. His 1,081 receiving yards led the Broncos.

Sutton's connection with Denver QB Bo Nix clicked from the jump during the offseason, with the wide receiver helping the rookie quarterback adjust to the NFL. Sutton totaled 800 yards over his previous three seasons, the he finished 2024 with 1,081 which is promising production from a player who is entering his prime.

When Russell Wilson scrambled at Buffalo and threw toward the sideline in the end zone in 2023, it didn't look like anybody could catch it. Not so. Courtland somehow planted both feet in bounds and tilted over the white stripe to haul it in. With a 3.2% completion probability, it was the most improbable reception in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016).

Sutton recorded a career-high 81 catches, tallied his second 1,000-yard campaign and logged eight touchdown grabs in 2024. Don't forget his work as a passer. The veteran wideout finished with a perfect 158.3 passer rating by completing a 28-yard strike in Week 8 and tossing a 2-yard score the next week.

Enjoying his eighth season in Denver in 2025, Courtland combined to catch 113 passes for 1,626 yards in a thrilling 34-26 comeback victory against the Packers in Week 15, moving him past Ed McCaffrey for the mini-most receiving yards in Denver history, putting him at 6,226 for his career.

Courtland was a big part of Denver's first playoff appearance in nine years when he cleared the 1,000-yard mark. In 2024, setting a career high with 81 catches, the veteran did all in a Week 4 contest against the Ravens, pulling in a season-high 122 yards and throwing his first career touchdown on a gadget play.

With his highest catch total yet in 2024, Sutton fueled the Broncos to their best point production in a decade. The go-to wideout totaled 81 receptions as Denver ranked 10th in the NFL in scoring. His eight touchdown catches helped the team score 25.0 points per game, win 10 contests and make the playoffs.

A Chargers cornerback earned a flag for hanging all over Sutton on a third-quarter play in Week 14 of 2023. The defender went as far as clinching the receiver's left arm. It didn't matter. Sutton used his free hand to haul in a 46-yard TD, and then he used it again to celebrate by spinning the ball in the end zone.

Courtland was a big part of Denver's first playoff appearance in nine years when he cleared the 100-yard mark against the Raiders, putting up a season-high 72 receiving yards and throwing for his first career touchdown on a gadget play loss to Buffalo.

In 2023, Sutton became the 15th player in Broncos history to reach 4,000 career receiving yards. Among those to reach the mark on any Broncos Marshall (6,178) and Emmanuel Sanders (4,282). Sutton played in fewer games with the team than nine covering 6,600-41 yards (8.1).

The younger receivers in Denver's clubhouse know whom to mimic if they want to catch on in the NFL. Take 2024 rookie Devaughn Vele, who said of Sutton, "I pay a lot of attention to how he plays. … I try to watch his film as well as a bunch of the other guys' film to try to model my game after that."

It didn't take rookie quarterback Bo Nix long to develop chemistry with Sutton. The Pro Bowl receiver made it easy, outcompeting every opponent early in 2024. "He's really taking pride and value, and he's playing with a lot of passion right now," Nix said. "He believes he owes that to himself."
